Editorial Policy

How Lawyerless approaches educational contract content, AI-assisted explanations, sources, and the limits of what these resources can do.

Our editorial purpose

Lawyerless publishes plain-language educational content to make contracts and legal language easier to understand. Our guides and explainers are designed to help people identify important terms, recognise points worth reviewing, and ask clearer questions before signing.

The aim is to explain what written terms say and how they may work in practice. It is not to decide whether an agreement is legally safe or to provide a legal opinion for a particular situation.

What we publish

Lawyerless includes contract review guides, contract-type explainers, clause explainers, and an AI-assisted tool for analysing documents submitted by users. These resources focus on common terms, practical questions, and issues that may deserve closer attention.

They are informational resources, not legal drafting instructions or a substitute for professional advice.

How AI is used

AI helps Lawyerless analyse and explain contract language in more accessible terms. It may identify provisions, summarise wording, and highlight possible questions or risks for a first-pass review.

Automated output can make mistakes, miss relevant context, or misunderstand how terms interact. It may not identify every issue in a document. Treat AI-assisted analysis as a starting point for understanding—not as legal advice or a complete assessment of your agreement.

Sources

Where external factual or legal background is useful and relevant, Lawyerless aims to rely on authoritative sources such as legislation, government bodies, regulators, courts, international institutions, and other primary or institutional materials.

Not every page requires or includes external sources. A source is used to support relevant background; it does not mean that the source endorses Lawyerless or its content.

Contract wording and jurisdiction-specific law

Lawyerless can help explain written terms such as payment, duration, termination, confidentiality, intellectual property, restrictions, obligations, and governing-law provisions.

Whether a term is enforceable, and what rights or remedies may apply, can depend on the governing law, your location, the facts, and the rest of the agreement. Statutory protections, worker classification, non-compete restrictions, tenancy rules, penalties, and similar issues are not universal. We do not present jurisdiction-dependent conclusions as if they apply everywhere.

Examples and limitations

Illustrative clauses and scenarios may be used to show how contract wording can work. They may be simplified or created for educational purposes, and they are not necessarily taken from a real agreement or recommended as legal drafting.

Contracts are context-specific: one clause can change the meaning of another, and the practical importance of a term can depend on the people, transaction, and jurisdiction involved. Educational content and AI-assisted analysis may not cover unusual, specialised, or high-risk agreements.

Corrections and improvements

Lawyerless aims to improve its educational resources as the product evolves and issues are identified. If you spot a possible error or have feedback on a guide or explainer, you can contact us.

When professional advice may be appropriate

Consider qualified legal advice when the stakes are high, the agreement involves significant money or assets, rights depend heavily on a particular jurisdiction, restrictions are complex, the arrangement crosses borders, you are already in a dispute, or you need a legal opinion rather than a plain-language explanation.
